Why visit
Galle Fort is a UNESCO-listed old town of lanes, ramparts and a working harbour. It is the cultural pause in our Coastal Retreat Journey and the usual south-coast chapter of a ten-day outline.
What to do
Walk the ramparts at a cooler hour, look into courtyards, and keep the rest of the day uncluttered. The Fort is compact; it does not need a forced march. Nearby beaches offer a different pace the following day.
How many nights
Two nights in or near the Fort is enough for most travellers. Families sometimes stay a little outside for space and a pool, then visit the Fort without luggage.

Mirissa is a short hop east for beach time and, in season, whale watching (an optional extra). Your chauffeur-guide makes that a simple morning rather than a relocation crisis.
